Abstract

Within the framework of the cognitive approach, language is considered as the organization of linguistic and non-linguistic information in the form of texts across various genres, based on the conceptual perceptions of the participants in a communicative act. The cognitive approach enables the inclusion of linguistic phenomena (speech, text, discourse), linguistic knowledge, background knowledge, and the communicative situation (context) within the hierarchical structure of discourse components, along with the author's pragmatic intent.
