Abstract

Humanity is going through the Fourth Industrial Revolution, dubbed "Industry 4.0". This term, first introduced in Germany in 2011, means not just automation, but the creation of "smart" industries where physical objects and digital systems merge into a single network. The importance of the topic is dictated by the active expansion of the solutions market within the framework of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. According to experts, its volume may reach $1.2 trillion by 2035. In the framework of this work, it is necessary to define the concept of Industry 4.0, consider its advanced technologies, evaluate its strengths and main problems. To understand the scale of the changes, it is necessary to trace the historical path of industrial development.
