This article examines literary translation as a complex and creative process and analyzes its distinctive characteristics. Literary translation is viewed not merely as a linguistic transfer but as an artistic recreation that preserves the semantic, stylistic, emotional, and cultural essence of the original text. The paper highlights the translator’s role as a creative mediator between cultures and discusses effective strategies for translating national-cultural elements, idiomatic expressions, and stylistically marked units. Examples from Uzbek literary works are provided to illustrate key translation techniques
