Mazkur maqolada O‘zbekiston florasida keng tarqalgan kovrak (Ferula L.) turkumiga mansub o‘simliklarning biokimyoviy tarkibi kompleks ilmiy-nazariy yondashuv asosida tahlil qilindi. Respublikamiz hududida Ferula turkumining 50 dan ortiq turi uchrashi, ularning 10 dan ziyodi dorivor va xo‘jalik ahamiyatiga ega ekanligi aniqlangan. Tadqiqotda kovrak ildizi, poyasi va smolali ajratmalari tarkibidagi biologik faol moddalarning – efir moylari, kumarinlar, seskviterpen laktonlar, flavonoidlar, fenol birikmalari, polisaxaridlar va mikroelementlarning miqdoriy hamda sifat ko‘rsatkichlari tahlil qilindi. Ilmiy manbalarga ko‘ra, ayrim Ferula turlarida efir moylari ulushi 8–15% gacha, smolali fraksiyalar esa 40–60% atrofida bo‘lishi mumkin. Kovrak tarkibidagi biofaol komponentlarning antioksidant, yallig‘lanishga qarshi, antimikrob va sitotoksik xususiyatlari eksperimental tadqiqotlar asosida yoritildi. Shuningdek, O‘zbekiston sharoitida o‘suvchi Ferula turlarining ekologik omillarga bog‘liq kimyoviy variabelligi va geografik tarqalishiga ko‘ra tarkibiy farqlari ko‘rib chiqildi. Tadqiqot natijalari kovrakning farmatsevtika, biotexnologiya va xalq tabobatidagi istiqbolli manba sifatidagi ahamiyatini ilmiy asoslashga xizmat qiladi. Maqola kovrak o‘simliklarining biokimyoviy salohiyatini chuqur o‘rganish zarurligini asoslab beradi.
