Tish kariyesi stomatologik amaliyotda eng keng tarqalgan kasalliklardan biri bo‘lib, uning tashxislanishi va davolanish sifati bemorning uzoq muddatli stomatologik salomatligini belgilovchi muhim omillardan hisoblanadi. So‘nggi yillarda diagnostika va davolash texnologiyalarining sezilarli darajada takomillashganiga qaramasdan, kariyesni tashxislash va davolash jarayonida turli xatolar hamda asoratlarning uchrashi dolzarb muammolardan biri bo‘lib qolmoqda. Diagnostik xatolar kariyesning chuqurligi va faoliyat darajasini noto‘g‘ri baholash, differensial tashxisdagi kamchiliklar, rentgenologik tekshiruvlarning yetarli darajada o‘tkazilmasligi hamda klinik ma’lumotlarni noto‘g‘ri talqin qilish bilan bog‘liq bo‘lishi mumkin.
